Gary Lathoud, qualified ski instructor, joins the Ski Family team in Val Thorens!

Born in the mountains of the Maurienne, Gary followed the example of his parents, both ski instructors. Our young ski instructor started skiing at the age of 2 and a half, and continued his teaching in a ski club in order to deepen his technique for competition. With his father as a coach, Gary comes from a family rooted in the world of alpine skiing. At the age of 14, our ski instructor in Val Thorens decided to focus on freestyle skiing and he competed until he was 18 years old and it is important to know that Gary was in the top 10 French skiers at that time! After several injuries, our ski instructor in Val Thorens opted for wisdom and decided to join the UCPA to do his alpine ski instructor course.

Where did you teach before coming to Val Thorens ?

"I did 3 years in La Plagne and then 3 years in Val Thorens, and last year I left the UCPA because I took over the Freestyle ski club in Valloire, I was a coach one winter with the young people of the valley, it was great fun, it's a change! This year I'm coming back to Val Thorens to teach with the Ski Family!

Why come back to Val Thorens ?

"Val Thorens is a ski area where I love to ski and especially teach and I love the atmosphere of the resort. Skiing in the 3 Valleys is incredible and these are resorts with a future."

Why did you want to be a ski instructor?

"My parents are ski instructors, my brother is a ski instructor, so the next logical step for me was to also pass my alpine ski instructor certificate. Freestyle skiing allowed me to see something else, to see another mentality and to change resorts and clubs but I am passionate about skiing above all and for me it is normal to want to transmit this passion.
